## Available

### Privacy

- **Ad and tracker blocker, built in** (Mac, iPhone and iPad): Ads and trackers are blocked inside WebKit, before the request is sent. On by default, no extension to install.
- **Cookie pop-ups, answered** (Mac, iPhone and iPad): Consent banners get "Reject all" or "Only necessary" for you, or are hidden. In English, Romanian, German, French and more.
- **Clean links** (Mac, iPhone and iPad): Tracking parameters are stripped from links before the page loads.
- **HTTPS first** (Mac, iPhone and iPad): Pages load over HTTPS, with a warning before anything goes over plain HTTP.
- **No telemetry, no account** (Mac, iPhone and iPad): Kort sends no usage data and has no sign-in. Crash reports are only sent if you choose to e-mail them.
- **No AI inside** (Mac, iPhone and iPad): No assistant, no chatbot, no summaries.
- **Search without AI Overviews** (Mac, iPhone and iPad): Google's AI Overviews and AI Mode are hidden, and so are AI answers on Ecosia. DuckDuckGo searches go to its no-AI version. On by default.
- **Private windows lock with Touch ID** (Mac, iPhone and iPad): Private windows lock when you step away and open again with Touch ID or Face ID.
- **Profiles** (Mac): Work and personal stay apart: each profile has its own cookies, history and permissions. A Space can use its own profile.

### Tabs and layout

- **Vertical tabs and Spaces** (Mac, iPhone and iPad): Tabs live in a sidebar. Spaces keep projects apart, each with its own colors.
- **Essentials and pinned tabs** (Mac, iPhone and iPad): The sites you always use stay one click away and unload instead of closing.
- **Split View, up to four pages** (Mac): Two to four pages in one window: side by side, stacked or in a 2×2 grid. Drag any divider to resize.
- **Glance** (Mac, iPhone and iPad): Preview a link in a floating card without leaving the page.
- **Command palette and shortcuts** (Mac): One box for tabs, history and commands. Every shortcut can be changed, mouse gestures included. ⌃Tab can switch tabs in recently used order, with previews.
- **Link routing** (Mac, iPhone and iPad): Send links from chosen sites straight to the right Space.
- **Tab Archive** (Mac, iPhone and iPad): Tabs you have not looked at for a while (7 days unless you choose otherwise) close into an Archive you can search and restore from. Kept 30 days by default. Essentials, pinned, playing and split tabs stay.
- **Lock a Space** (Mac, iPhone and iPad): Any Space can lock behind Touch ID or your password, Face ID on iPhone and iPad. It locks again after a delay you choose and when the Mac sleeps.
- **Settings per Space** (Mac): Each Space can have its own search engine, turn content blocking on or off, and set camera, microphone and location defaults.
- **Quick Window** (Mac): A link from another app can open in a small window, signed in as in the Space it belongs to. Read it and close it, or move it into a Space as a tab. Off by default.
- **More windows, same Spaces** (Mac): New Window on These Spaces opens a second window onto the same Spaces and tabs. A Blank Window keeps your sign-ins, and its tabs are never saved.
- **Quick on iPhone** (iPhone and iPad): Swipe the address bar to change tabs. Send a link from any app with "Open in Kort" in the share sheet.

### Speed and battery

- **Apple's WebKit** (Mac, iPhone and iPad): The same engine as Safari: fast, light on battery, and patched with macOS.
- **Tabs that rest** (Mac): Background tabs go to sleep after 10 minutes and wake when you click them.

### Everyday

- **Extensions** (Mac, iPhone and iPad): Install many extensions from the Chrome Web Store or Firefox Add-ons, with a permission review.
- **On-device translation** (Mac, iPhone and iPad): Pages translate with Apple's Translation framework. The text never leaves your device.
- **Reader and Read Later** (Mac, iPhone and iPad): A clean reading view, and a list of saved articles that also open offline.
- **Site Styles** (Mac, iPhone and iPad): Restyle any site: dark mode, fonts, hidden elements. Saved per site.
- **Web apps in the Dock** (Mac): Turn any site into its own app with its own Dock icon.
- **Address and card autofill** (Mac, iPhone and iPad): Addresses and cards are stored in your Keychain. Cards fill after Touch ID.
- **Import in one step** (Mac): Bookmarks and history from Safari, Chrome, Firefox, Arc, Brave, Edge and many more. Spaces and pinned tabs from Arc and Zen.
- **Automatic updates** (Mac): Signed updates arrive in the background. You choose when to install.
- **In your language** (Mac, iPhone and iPad): The app speaks 16 languages, among them Romanian, German, French, Spanish, Italian, Dutch, Polish and Greek.
- **Kort Backup** (Mac): Spaces, tabs, bookmarks, settings and site settings in one file, history if you want it. Passwords, cookies and your license are never in it.
- **Capture Area and Markdown links** (Mac, iPhone and iPad): Drag over part of a page to copy it as a picture (Mac). Copy Link as Markdown gives you [Title](link) on Mac, iPhone and iPad.
- **Getting Started** (Mac): On first launch, a short page of things to try. Steps tick off as you do them. It stays in the Help menu.
- **Works with your own coding agent** (Mac): Agent Bridge lets Claude Code, Codex or Cursor on your Mac control Kort, after you connect it in Settings with one click. Off until you turn it on. Kort itself has no AI.

## Coming

- **Apple Passwords autofill** (Mac, iPhone and iPad): Fill passwords from Apple Passwords. Bitwarden, Proton Pass and other password manager extensions work today.
- **Passkeys** (Mac, iPhone and iPad): Sign in with passkeys stored in your iCloud Keychain.
- **iCloud sync** (Mac, iPhone and iPad): Spaces, Essentials and pinned tabs sync through your own iCloud. Off by default.
- **Handoff** (Mac, iPhone and iPad): Pick up a page on your Mac where you left it on your iPhone.
- **iPhone and iPad on the App Store** (iPhone and iPad): The iPhone and iPad app is built and waits for its App Store release.

## Measured

Benchmark results against other browsers: [benchmarks](https://kortbrowser.com/benchmarks.md).

Earlier measurements, in our tests (one Mac, warm launch, median of 4 runs, 10 real sites): the window is visible 228 ms after launch; the app's own UI uses 23.6 MB idle and 42.3 MB with 10 tabs; background tabs sleep after 10 minutes, which cut total memory with 10 tabs from 1461.5 MB to 737 MB (49.6% less).

## Moving from another browser

- **Bookmarks**: From every browser on the list. Folders stay folders.
- **History**: From every browser on the list except Orion.
- **Spaces, pinned tabs and folders**: From Arc and Zen. Essentials too.
- **Open tabs**: From Arc, Dia, Firefox, Zen and the other Firefox-based browsers. Pinned tabs and tab groups from Firefox.
- **Saved addresses**: From Chrome, Brave, Edge and the other Chromium browsers, and from the Firefox family.
- **Bookmark files**: The bookmarks.html every browser exports, on Mac, iPhone and iPad.

Imports from: Safari, Safari Technology Preview, Orion, Chrome, Chromium, Arc, Dia, Brave, Edge, Vivaldi, Opera, Opera GX, Yandex, Ecosia, Thorium, Helium, Comet, Sidekick, Firefox, Zen, LibreWolf, Waterfox, Floorp, Mullvad Browser, Tor Browser.

Passwords go to Apple Passwords, not to us. Kort shows how to export them from your old browser and import them there. Cookies, extensions and saved cards are not copied. You sign in again and add your extensions once. Run it again any time. It only adds what is new.

## You pay for Kort. So your data stays yours.

The purchase is the business model. There is no other one.

- **No ads**: Kort shows none and sells none.
- **No data business**: Your browsing stays on your device. There is nothing to sell.
- **No account**: There is nothing to sign in to.
- **No telemetry**: Kort sends no usage data. Crash reports leave only if you e-mail them.

## Questions

### Is Kort free?

No. Kort costs 5 €, once, and you keep it. There is no subscription, no ads and no data deal paying for it instead. Price in your currency; local taxes may apply at checkout.

### Does Kort collect anything about me?

No. There is no telemetry and no account. To check your license, the app sends the key and a random, hashed id for your iCloud device group. We never see your Apple ID, your history or the pages you visit.

### Why no AI?

A browser sees everything you read. We think it should show pages, not read them for someone else. Kort has no assistant. It also hides AI Overviews on Google by default, and AI answers on Ecosia and DuckDuckGo.

### Can I use my extensions?

Many of them. Kort installs extensions from the Chrome Web Store and Firefox Add-ons through WebKit, with a permission review. Some extensions need APIs WebKit does not offer yet.

### What about my passwords?

Password manager extensions such as Bitwarden and Proton Pass work today. Apple Passwords autofill and passkeys are coming; they need Apple signing first.

### Which devices does it run on?

Mac, with macOS 15.4 or later. The iPhone and iPad app is coming to the App Store. One license covers all devices on one iCloud account.

### Why WebKit and not Chromium?

WebKit is Apple's engine, the one inside Safari. On a Mac and an iPhone it is fast, easy on the battery and updated with the system.
