The short version
- No telemetry. Kort does not send usage data, analytics or crash reports on its own.
- No account. There is nothing to sign in to.
- Your history, tabs, bookmarks, passwords and settings stay on your devices.
- No AI. Nothing reads your pages for anyone.
What the app sends, and why
License check
To activate and renew your license, Kort sends our license server your key and a random id for your iCloud device group, hashed with SHA-256. We cannot tell who you are from it, and we never see your Apple ID. Renewals happen in the background about once a day.
Updates (Mac)
Kort checks for a new version once a day. That request contains the app version and macOS version, like any download. You can turn automatic checks off in Settings.
Filter lists
The ad, tracker and cookie pop-up blocker downloads public filter lists from their maintainers and keeps them up to date. Nothing about you is sent with those requests.
Search suggestions
If search suggestions are on, what you type in the address bar goes to the search engine you chose, as in any browser.
Crash reports
After a crash, Kort can offer to e-mail a report. You see the e-mail first and decide whether to send it.
What stays on your devices
Browsing history, open tabs, Spaces, bookmarks, Read Later, site settings, saved addresses and cards. Cards are kept in your Keychain. When iCloud sync arrives, it will go through your own iCloud account, off by default.
